Heat Wave

This week: Bronchitis happened. Not pretty, but I'm breathing again today. ~cheers~

Also this week: Hot, miserable, disgusting heat. Subway stations are even hotter. It's like living in South Florida but there's no relief--only the really big stores have a/c. Most of the time you just have to tough it out. And I'm not tough about it. People keep saying, "At least it's not winter!" Whatever. I'm sure as soon as it's winter they'll say, "At least it's not summer!"

Also: My job is over. Half of the teachers working there, including myself, decided to not extend our employment further into the summer. Remember how hard it was for me to decide to go to Disney World and the hours I spent on that decision? I probably spent double the time on this work decision and poor Jacob had to hear about it for days. I learned several important things during my brief, temporary summer job as a teacher here:

          1) I still really love teaching.
          2) I loved the extra income a lot more than I want to admit.
          3) I can't work for someone who openly, publicly berates his wife, kids and employees.
          4) I can no longer tolerate the public school system of testing kids into tears, nor do I tolerate      NYCs extremely competitive system of testing into certain middle schools and high schools.

Which leads me to my last thing: We have two choices for school this fall. Put the girls in a private Jewish/Hebrew school or homeschool. I'll find out more info next week.

Until then, we're waiting in our temp place, still, while the landlord finishes the renovation and gets us keys already so we can move into our apartment already.

I'm so sorry you've been sick! I hope it's not a smog related thing that keeps coming back to haunt you. I am SO happy you found housing and that there is more stability in your future. Things are falling into place. You got this!
