Christmas concert

The biggest news of the week: I survived finals. I almost drowned in the process. I had three comprehensive tests. They went mostly good. I had a strange experience during the last final--in the middle of the test, I realized I would be done with the semester. I started panicking. What was I going to do with all my free time? How would I be able to decide what to do? Keep in mind that I haven't had enough time to even sit through a t.v. show in many months. For a while, I wanted the test to keep going. I didn't want to be stuck with so much unscheduled time. That's what it felt like when I ended my mission and probably what it feels like (to a very small degree) when someone gets out of jail. I had planned to go home after the final, eat something delicious and watch a movie on HBO. I got home and was so overcome with fatigue that I couldn't look at the t.v. screen. My stomach and my friend, the ulcer, had taken a beating this week so I cramped up on the couch until it was a reasonable bedtime (9:00). Not really what I had in mind for celebrating. The next morning, I realized that Christmas was almost a week away and I was completely unprepared. *insert lyrics here: Getting Ready For Christmas Day by Paul Simon*

My aunt invited me to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert, so this was my end-of-semester celebration. She even provided a box of See's chocolates for the ride up, including my favorite Key Lime truffle. And since I'm fairly positive that she doesn't read my blog, I'm going to publicly announce that she is one of the most terrifying drivers I know.

We were with my aunt Diane, her friend Tiffany, her sister Dana, her mom and Bob, my cousin's wife Mindy, and my other cousin's fiancee Ie Ling. All we wanted was a group picture.

Take one: The volunteer photographer cut out Diane's face. So we asked someone else.

Take two: The next volunteer photographer cut off some heads. So we asked someone else.

Take three: Someone said "Get a teenager to do it." So I asked some acne-faced young fella to take the picture. He got it right.

Me and Mindy wait for the concert to start:

This doesn't capture how amazing the Conference Center looked:

The concert was fantastic. Jane Seymour (Think "Dr Quinn Medicine Woman") was a narrator and Nathan Gunn sang. Really first class music, folks. Plus the whole thing was free.
