Tea Party
This is one of the pictures I scalped from Thursday's photo box disaster. Looking at it makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. It was May of 2007. Hannah was three months old. She may look like she's sleeping, but she was just being cuddly in between bouts of screaming. I was in charge of a tea party for girls in the neighborhood ages 8-11. Brian was working at Schwan's, which means he was gone all the time. When he wasn't gone, he was sleeping. Hannah, on the other hand, wasn't sleeping more than about 45 minutes at a time at night. Leah refused to nap. I had to admit defeat about three days before the party and told the other lady in charge that I couldn't do it. I agreed to bring the cupcakes. I made these adorable mini cupcakes in pastel colors and arranged them on this tray in a color-coordinated order. I put the cupcakes in the car (Van Go), then wen to buckle in Leah, then I would put Hannah in--because when you have small kids around, you have to load the car in stages. I turned my back for maybe 10 seconds and Leah had grabbed the plastic wrap on top of the cupcake pan and pulled. All the cupcakes--my only tea party contribution--landed frosting side down on the pan. I don't know why I'm smiling in the picture. It makes me smile now because they both look so cute and little!
