It's been a while

I haven't blogged in a while because of two reasons-1)my kids and 2)my husband, who's had stomach flu and been time consuming. And he doesn't know I do this, so it's no fun to blog with him around. Hannah is currently crying in bed so this may or may not last. I thought I'd give a play by play of how church went for us today.

10:47-Load kids into the car, feeling amazed that we were able to get dressed and ready and out the door by this time. A miracle in itself.
10:55-Find a seat in the back in the chapel. Take kids for a walk for a few minutes before meeting.
11:02-The squirming and begging for fruit snacks begins.
11:07-Our name is read as new members of the ward. We stand up, and upon sitting down, Hannah begins wailing because she thought we were leaving.
11:10-Hannah hasn't stopped wailing. We give up and go out to the foyer, minus one of Hannah's shoes that we can't find.
11:11-11:25-Try in vain to keep kids reverent during the sacrament. Hannah insists on climbing the stairs, Leah is upset because Malynda isn't playing with her quiet book the right way. Luke yells at Hannah for trying to play with his cars. Hannah cries more.
11:26-We throw in the towel and head home. Hannah falls asleep in 30 seconds, Leah changes her dress and wants to play doctor. I use this time to try to practice my musical number for Relief Society. I tell Leah she can have two fruit snacks if she lets me practice alone. She lasts about one minute, then tells me she woke up Hannah, wants her snacks and is going to help me play. She gets one snack. We get Hannah out of bed to make it back to Relief Society. i'm supposed to play in the beginning of the meeting.
1:00-Show up at church. Deja vu.
1:05-Leah goes to sunbeams, with her softie. Someone stopped me and said they found Hannah's shoe.
1:10-Virginia offers to take Hannah to nursery at the same time that the Relief society announces my song as being the last hymn. Why did I get Hannah out of bed?
1:15 I end up taking Hannah to the nursery myself. One of the leaders asks why I came. I consider slapping her but think better of it.
1:45 Virginia follows me back to Relief Society, where she takes Hannah and I sit down by Malynda. Maybe the speaker will take to long and I won't have to play.
1:55 The speaker didn't take long enough and I have to play. I get up and say that I will do a shortened version and that I wish I was more prepared. I play Come Unto Jesus, poorly, and hurry back to my chair. i can hear Hannah screaming in the gym.
2:03-Someone shoves a paper at me to fill out. I get the girls, then return to the room to hand in the paper. Leave with me head ducked so I don't have to talk to anyone about my song. Unsuccessful.
2:15-Arrive at home.

So that's how church goes for me when Brian's not around. Why do I go? I'm still figuring that out. Good news, though. Someone came up to me after church and offered to help on the days that he was gone. A savior!

I really hate not being able to go to church with you. I hate it because I want to be there to help. I hate it because I want spiritual nourishment. I hate it because I HATE working on the Sabbath, even if it is for a necessary cause for working on Sundays. And, I just having that time to be with you. Period.
