Benadryl baby

I didn't finish yesterday's post because...I can't remember. i'm sure it was important though. I think I was going off on what it's like to have an autistic daughter. Today was one of those special, what-in-the-world-are-we-going-to-do kinds of days. She was spinning out of control, so tired that she was unable to make any kind of rational or appropriate decision. Days like this are like having my own personal tornado following me around like a perpetual path of destruction, neverending messes to deal with and fires to put out. Brian and I decided to give her some Benadryl to calm things down. Before you freak out and say "I can't believe she drugged her child!", it should be known that several people have recommended to us that we have her on some kind of sedative. We don't like that idea, but some days are so bad that we feel there is no choice. Sometimes her inability to self regulate is a danger to herself and to others, and we can't risk anyone's safety. Anyway, the drugs were a good chioce, she calmed down enough to go to the playground and go to bed early without a fuss.

I had a few brilliant ideas yesterday:
1)In order to be able to go on the camping trip with my family, we should be "practicing" camping with the girls over the next few months. This week, weather permitting, we will be having a campfire and roasting marshmallows. Next week, maybe we'll set up the tent. or not.
2)To be able to prepare for a recital, I should look into renting a piano. There is a place in Salt Lake that has a rent-to-own option. Sounds promising...

I have to throw in some Hannah news, because she's so cute and because we don't want her lost in the Leah shuffle. Her speech has exploded-she'll mimic and try almost any word. She has too many words to count, which is amazing to me. Her favorite thing with week is animals-so anything with fur or feathers is "kitty". She's almost 100% walking and LOVES the stroller. LOVES. She's also learning how to go down a slide and stairs. We had spaghetti for dinner and she picked out the meat out of the sauce-it was her favorite part!
