Patience, anyone?

I promise I haven't forgotten to blog.

I've had some fun trips. Some of them are undocumented (a church youth group trip to Camp Williams--and I don't have proof that I actually did a free fall rappel. True story). Some of them are heavily documented by my sister. I've been missing my camera for two months. I just found it tightly wound around a screw under the front seat of the car. At least it wasn't stolen, but I did miss out on some great shots.

I've been extremely exhausted. Lagoon, Seven Peaks, nieces and more nieces, long car rides involving vomit, sleepless nights, elevation changes, migraines, church lessons, teenagers, and school projects to finish the summer semester. This makes me tired just writing it!

School starts for Leah on Tuesday. She is a nervous wreck. She hasn't made a new friend since kindergarten and the two friends that she claims don't get along with each other. We need help.

Hannah and I start school next week. It's my last semester before student teaching. I will be doing a practicum this semester at a 6th grade resource math class. Doesn't that sound like a pile of fun? Don't answer that.

So really, I haven't forgotten to blog. I will post pictures when I figure out how to steal them from my sister's fb page and put them on this blog. Most are unflattering but we'll let that slide. I probably should have rethunk the socks + birkenstocks combo.

I reread this and realized it sounded like a passive aggressive attempt at getting pics--so sorry! That's not what I meant at all. I can't think about pics for a few more days so I'll let you know.

Parent Teacher Conference

Dear Mom, You left 4 months ago. You clearly didn't mean to leave when you did, with your shoes sitting by the door and your unfinished paper boxes of chocolates for Relief Society. No one else wants to hear how the girls are doing. No one else has lived with us for so long and understands them and the dynamics of my family like you do. The social media version: “A new burger place in Park Slope— pretty good but girls still love Black Tap better. I love the exposed brick and VW van counter.” The reality: We were supposed to go to burgers last night to remember Dad on the 3rd anniversary of his death. I was very sick this weekend. Leah had a fever of 105— I’m gonna day that again— 105 and Lucy was being picked up by her clown father. No one was ok. We somehow made it out of the house today but we could hardly talk about Dad/Grandpa. Hannah regrets that she doesn’t remember much. Leah is deeply grieving a very special connection they had.
