Long. Day.
I'm having the same problem with blogging that I usually have with journal writing-I get behind and I don't want to take the time to revisit the past, so I don't do anything. Now that I said that in writing, it sounds really lame. So I'll start with what happened today, and if by some miracle I get post some pictures of previous events and whatnot...well, let's not get too excited. I'm one day at a time right now. So here's a small itinerary of how my Tuesday, December 8th looked:
5:00 am - Up with Hannah
6:00 am- Hannah asleep, up with Leah
9:00 am- schlep through a foot of snow to practice the piano at the church
10:30 am - leave church, previous tracks covered up with new snow
11:15 am- Piano lesson in north Provo
12:30 pm - Van stuck in piano teacher's driveway, in between an Audi and a hoity toity wrought iron fence.
1:00 pm - Get pushed out of sticky situation by two strange guys, run errands
1:30 pm- Van dies at Toys R Us. Get jumped by a strange guy.
1:35 pm - Van dies at the intersection of 400 W and University Parkway in Orem *I realize this is only meaningful to those that have driven this piece of road* Get pushed by two strange men.
1:40 pm - Van gets jumped by strange guy who says "Let's just try to make it to Walmart."
1:45 pm - Van dies at intersection of 800 W and University Parkway. Van driver has mild attack of hysteria
1:55 pm- Van gets pushed through intersection plus three blocks by three strange guys.
2:00 pm- New strange guy shows up, says "you need an alternator. Sorry."
2:10 pm- Husband plus two kids show up to rescue van driver. Kids in tears from confusion. Van driver freezing.
3:00 pm - Van driver tells previous van owner (dad) about said mishaps. Long pause.
3:30 pm - Previous van owner arrives at the scene to find van being impounded for being parked illegally. Van gets towed to shop.
6:30 pm- Ward Christmas party
9:30 pm - Bedtime
Total number of strange guys, including Christmas party Santa : 9.
I gotta be grateful, and a little curious, as to the number of strangers willing to help out today. Several of them even left their own cars in the middle of the road to push Van Go No More out of the way. I really feel very, very grateful.
Did anyone make it through that dreadful monologue? *shoulders slump in defeat* Tomorrow will be better....
Wait, wait, wait-we had a good success at the Christmas party. A fake Santa came out and Leah started bawling-a mixture of confusion and anxiety, I think. It took a few minutes to calm her down, but I finally learned what her concern was-she was worried that if she didn't sit on Santa's lap, she wouldn't get a purple mermaid Barbie for Christmas. She stood in line with Grandma, trembling, and actually did it! So did Hannah, who's decided she's getting makeup for Christmas. We are soooo proud of Leah for sitting on his lap!
Here's the obligatory pictures of Santa. I don't mean that to be negative or detract from the fact that my kids are ADORABLE.

I think I'll go settle down for my long winter's nap now....(get it?)
Come on, it's the holidays. I can be a little corny if I want!
