Week in review

My motivation is severely lacking lately but I didn't want a long time to go in between posts, so here's my quick update. Maybe I should mention that every winter in Logan, my motivation goes down the drain and my whole body nearly stops working because of frozenness. Lucky for us this year, the frozenness started early. Yay.

*Leah got some new glasses. We are still trying to convince her to wear them, but they do look cute. I'll skip the story about how she had a meltdown at the optometrist over not bringing home the glasses right away, so they put a rush order on them and had them ready in a few hours. I tried to explain that she could really use a lesson in WAITING, but I think the severity of her trantrum was alarming. I guess I didn't skip that story.

*Leah is also starting some medication. Due to the controversial nature of medicating children combined with those who are in the 'there's nothing wrong with Leah' camp (you know who you are), I'm not going to say much about this. So far it's helping with some of the most difficult behavior and keeping us safer and more manageable.

*After church, Hannah was runnung around the gym with some boys and I was talking to one of the dads. I looked over after a while and saw her standing with her dress hiked up to her chest, diaper off, proudly displaying her birthday suit. I thought it was funny...no one else did. No worries, I'm used to be the only one laughing.

*Since we're on the topic, here's another one: Hannah likes to be rocked, and when we hold her in the rocking chair she folds up like a piece of origami. I was patting her leg for while, but when I looked down I realized that it wasn't her leg...but a huge, full diaper. I was being affectionate with a dirty diaper.

*Saturday was our first big snowfall of the season, which is great for Utah's ski resorts, bad for Mom Taylor's mood. I thought "That's okay, we can have a fun day anyway. Maybe we'll go sledding." It took the whole afternoon to round up snow gear-a must have around these parts-but that's a story that I really won't get into. By the time we got to Old Main Hill it was bedtime. I should pause for a minute and say this about Old Main Hill-it's very steep and mostly used for snowboarders who don't want to pay for a lift ticket and hard core sledders. Not a mom, alone, with two little rookie sledders. The short version of this pea-brained idea is this: Hannah was too scared to sit on the sled, Leah had to pee, and I ended up holding Hannah in my arms while pulling Leah down the hill. I forgot to mention that at the bottom of the hill there is a parking lot, so if you don't stop yourself (which Leah doesn't know how to do) you will fly into a car. We did two runs and I called it a night.

This was taken before we tried to sled. They haven't asked to go back, for some reason.

I think that'll do for now. I think I'm fighting another cold and have to pick up Brian from work at 11:00 tonight, so I'm gonna get off the computer and do some couch lounging.

I'm glad I was able to find the needle in the haystack Monday night ride home from work so you could get some sleep.

I love you.

Perhaps this shouldn't have made me laugh, but it did. The part about them not having asked to go back...PRICELESS!

I'm glad things are going better with Leah. The glasses are way cute on her, too. Maybe a little earlier trek on the sledding hill next time? Or maybe a little help with the kiddos when you sled? You're brave, anyway.
