Photo Bomb

I'm calling this post "Photo Bomb" because I'm dropping a lot of pics down. Like a bomb. That made more sense in my head...

Also I'm going to use the caption feature for the pictures. So hi-tech of me! Wow! We've done a lot of fun stuff lately, even though 90% of our lives revolve around homework, rainstorms, med school, whatever health I wake up with on any given day, and other mundane baloney. But here are a few pics of us. For the first time in my life, I live in a place that offers too many things to do. I've met my match in excitement and will never, ever be bored here. But it still feels like we live in another country and I still miss my family and friends like crazy. Plus we have to crunch money and get super creative about how we spend on our time. Luckily, I found a website called "Miami on the cheap" and it gives affordable ideas every weekend.

I miss my sister. And all my family. Isn't she cute?!
He's call the couch his 'swamp' because every time he sits on it, he feels like laying face down and taking a nap. That's a direct quote. I think it makes more sense in his head than anyone else's. I told him the couch not only looks like a swamp, but also smells like one and will not be following us to NYC this summer.

A terrible pic of Leah who won second place in the school Spelling Bee. She has a work ethic and devotion to homework that I've NEVER had.

Pelicans!!! They are SO BIG. Almost as tall as Hannah and very friendly. Jacob petted their heads.  We  took a day trip to the Keys a few weeks ago and there were pelicans walking around everywhere. If you've seen Dolphin Tale and remember the pelican in it--that is pretty accurate.

Islamorada has a fun place called Robbie's. You buy bucket of fish for $3 and can feed these HUGE tarpon in the water. HUGE, people. Bigger than Leah. They come right to the surface and you drop the fish into their mouths. This picture is Hannah shooing the pelicans away so we could feed the fish and not the birds. It was so much fun! I think we went through 4 or 5 buckets of fishies. One thing that has really surprised me about Florida is how large and tame the wildlife is. Birds that want to be petted, alligators sitting in the middle of the trail, tarpon that eat out of your hand.

I even found a canal where manatees hang out. Talk about big creatures. And ugly but adorable :).

The face doesn't lie--Hannah was loving it!

It's just such a happy, tropical sounding name. With beautiful weather.

We are incapable of taking a good picture together. It's never happened.

I love how they look like their floating on a raft. It was just a dock and we were watching birds and waiting for the sun to set.

I will never, ever get sick of the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico/Caribbean. It's magical.

Hannah's birthday was quiet but a lot of fun. Jacob and I were both not feeling well that day, so we had to put on a happy face and act festive, but overall it was a great day for her. We decided that we would have parties with friends every other year and parties with just family on the off year. She wanted to open presents, eat chicken strips and go to Dave and Busters (think enormous, loud arcade).

The birthday girl accidentally won 1000 tickets. So did I!

Leah did not....

We pooled our tickets together and split the winnings.
They both went home with big prizes. Fun night and Hannah was SO tired the next day. Being 8 is hard work!!
The huge ball that Hannah won doubles as a turtle shell. Sadly, the ball got a big hole in it the next day and couldn't be repaired. She cried.

We decided to spend a Saturday at the Coconut Grove Art Festival. It was quite the festival--right on the water and something for everyone.
Jacob wanted to hold another baby alligator. I hate how they taped its mouth shut. Rude.

Listening to live music, sitting on the grass, playing around, meanwhile Leah is having a preteen mood fest and scowling into her lap (not shown).

Those are Hannah's legs. Scares me every time.

These pictures make me so happy. And so sad that I won't be able to see Miami before you leave! You are making wonderful memories. I'm so glad you're capturing them!
