State Fair bucket list

I've been making a mental bucket list of things I want to see in Utah. Not because I'm leaving, but because I've lived here too long to ignore the fact that I've lived in a bubble and haven't really experienced the many cool things this place has to offer. Yes, there are some cool things that Utah has to offer (that was for you out-of-state folks that are snickering right now. Or in-state folks.) One of them was going to the state fair. It's right in the middle of Salt Lake City, so not too far away.

Here are a few more bucket list items:

--Take the girls on the Alpine Slide
--Antelope Island
--Visit each state park (there are 5!)
--Go to Goblin Valley
--A few hikes: Timp Caves, Stewart Falls, and maybe Ensign Peak

Anyway, we made a VERY last minute decision to go to the State Fair. Is it capitalized? One of the best parts of the fair is the food--so many yummy things! This picture is of an enormous plate of french fry/potato skin/something curlies. It was a continuous deal of curly potatoes.

My poor mom got talked into going on a spinny ride with the girls. Either the music was really loud or she's trying not to barf.

However, Hannah loved it.

I was trying to get a picture with both of them but Hannah refused to be the surfer guy.

I took Hannah to a place called Little Hands, an adorable exhibit that showed kids how food goes from the farm to the store.

You had to fill up the tractor and ride it around. Very cute.

She wouldn't be a surfer dude but she would be an FFA girl. I don't know what to think about that.

On the way out, I got some corn for the ride home. Mom was carrying them while I was pushing a screaming tot in a stroller (I won't mention any names). She ended up looking like an air traffic controller and for some reason, maybe it was really late, we thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Mom directing traffic with corn. Actually, I get that it's only mildly amusing. We were tired and the corns were huge.

What I wish I had pictures of: Leah and Grandma watching the horseback riding stuff. Leah is beyond horse crazy. She's kind of like a centaur.

I wish I had pictures of me dragging the girls through the pig and sheep barns, with me squealing about how adorable pigs are and what sweet personalities they have and look at their precious curly tails! Awwwwwww.

And I should have taken a picture of the infected mosquito bite that Leah got.

But other than missing pictures and a few obligatory meltdowns, it was fun and now I can cross "state fair" or "State Fair" off my Utah Bucket list.
