Tuesday blahs
The produce guy at the store said to me "If we didn't have Mondays, Tuesday would be a horrible day." I guess we have to have one rough day a week, right? I'm a little blue today, so I thought I'd write about something that made me happy-our most recent trip to Logan to celebrate Sam's birthday.
We left Saturday morning and our first stop was the Riley house. Trisha has been my friend since I first moved to Logan 8 years ago, when we were both childless and still newlyweds. She introduced me to Harry Potter (I don't think she knows that!) so I hold her in high esteem. Here's Dahlia, her one month old baby girl, sleeping on my lap.
And then waking up...
We headed to the Walker house to spend some time with Sam. He turned 9 yesterday! We ate a Golden Corral, so here's Sam lovin' it:
Leah hiding under the table. She had to go #2 and is scared of public toilets (because they're loud). She said "Don't worry mom. I pushed it back in." Thankfully, no accidents.
We had a GREAT time - presents, lemon cake and ice cream and a pinata! Leah played Mario Kart and keeps asking when she can play "Car Mario" with her cousin Rachel again. The three of us stayed the night with my friends Emma and Ryan. We were all piano majors together and they're married now. My kids loved staying at their house and the three 'adults' had a little pajama pants party when the girls were asleep.
We might be the dorkiest people I know, but my willingness to humiliate myself is all I have going for me sometimes!
Minus a wake up call from Hannah at 4:30 am, the whole weekend was really great. I went to church and saw some old friends. The bishop gave me a hug and many asked if I was coming back to live. I LOVED living in that area and will always, always cherish the friendships I made there. It was hard to leave! Living in Logan was such a mixed bag for me-I both loved and hated it, but I know if the opportunity was right, I'd move back in a second. And deal with seven months of winter...okay, new topic.Hannah is Queen Defiance. I have to carefully sort through the battles we fight every day. Usually, I only want to fight the battles involving health or safety. This picture demonstrates a battle that I chose to opt out of: the "I'm only wearing princess clothes to bed, mom. I don't care if we all wake up at 5 am because I'm freezing" battle. Leah's in the background and it looks like she's taking notes.
To be honest, I'm a little baffled by these two. Hannah has decided to wear a 'bra', a white ribbon that she ties around her chest, Leah recently asked if I thought boys were cool, they are currently waffling on ear piercing (I didn't offer it as a choice, by the way), they conspire against me, listen to music and are obsessed with talking on the phone. I thought I had a few more years before this stuff came along!! Miniature teenagers. Oh, and yesterday Leah was super mad at me and she said "You are a TERRIBLE mother!" It was funny, but I know in 10 years I won't be laughing as much.
Phew, that was exhausting couple of days! And I feel better now!
